The original audience was primarily senior citizens, but over time Active Minds has grown to serve adults of all ages through programming at book stores, libraries, and corporations. Today Active Minds provides programming to over 200 organizations and has over 30 highly qualified instructors on staff. John Henderson and Zane Robertson formed Active Minds out of a deeply felt belief that lifelong learning is central to a life well lived. We are inspired by members of our own families who embodied this spirit and dedicate this work to them.

It is a combination of face exercises, face massage, face acupressure and face relaxation. Face Yoga helps to naturally soften face and neck lines. It relaxes the mind, body and face. To help people feel the best versions of themselves.   Many of these techniques and practices originate from India, Japan and China. They have been passed down for thousands of years, generation to generation. It has been proven time and time again.   I also teach via Zoom.

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN:
SAVORING THE PEACE OF JESUS IN A CHAOTIC WORLD
By Melissa Spoelstra

Life. It seems to move at a break-neck pace. Days are filled with noise, screens, and appointments. Sometimes worry and fear are constant companions. The chaos can leave you looking for a place to be still, but that resting spot always seems to be an elusive destination. Jesus offers a different kind of life. He offers peace. He is peace.

In this 7-session study on the Gospel of John, Melissa Spoelstra will encourage you to slow down and linger with the living Word. You’ll appreciate the pace of the Savior who never hurried but completed all that the Father called Him to accomplish. As you turn the pages of John’s Gospel, you’ll be challenged to take on the posture of a learner—understanding that the peace Jesus offers is not an ease of circumstances, but a stillness of the soul. As a result, you’ll grow in intimacy with Him and learn to live, serve, and rest in His peace.

  • The study is 7 weeks long, encompassing weekly class sessions using a study book with daily lessons and a weekly video teaching that will be viewed in class.
  • Thursdays, September 10—October 22, 2026
  • OR Fridays, September 11—October 23, 2026
  • 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM

Dinosaurs and Fossils: A Colorado History
Monday, September 14th, 2026, 3:30pm to 4:30pm at Blue Sage
Presented by Dinosaur Ridge

Dinosaurs in Thornton? Why do Dinosaurs even matter? Colorado fossils tell a good story.
Construction workers uncovered dinosaur bones right here in Thornton in 2017. These fossils, and many others collected along the Front Range, give us a window into what has happened here for the last 150 Millon Years. Kermit Shields is a geologist and a volunteer at Dinosaur Ridge. He will discuss the geologic history of this area, talk about how the environment has changed and (of course) focus on the dinosaurs that lived in Colorado.

Stick around and check out some fossils that will be on display!

Biking Club - Basalt and Aspen Biking Adventures
Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, 12:30pm to 3:30pm
On September 16 and 17, the HTC Bike Club is on the road with new rides and adventures. On September 16, we will begin in beautiful Basalt (about a four hour’s drive from HTC). We’ll meet in the Willits Town Center parking lot next to the Element Hotel (499 Market Street, Basalt) at 12:30 PM. We’ll hop on our bikes and ride the Rio Grande trail from Basalt to Woody Creek and return the way we came. This is an easy 30-mile ride on paved rail trail. At 15 miles (our turnaround point), we’ll stop at the historic Woody Creek Tavern for refreshments.

After the ride, we’ll get together for BYOB cocktails and BYO snacks on the Element Hotel’s patio followed by a group dinner across the street at Westbound and Down Brewery. You can make overnight accommodations at the beautiful Element Hotel, or many of the other area hotels. As this is a beautiful time in the mountains, you may wish to drive up before or stay after the rides. If you’d like to join us and stay at the Element Hotel, contact Debbie TODAY as she has negotiated a competitive rate at the property and inventory is limited for this special rate.

On September 17th, we will drive to Aspen’s Henry Stein Park (20 miles). We’ll meet there at 9:30 AM and ride to Maroon Lake at the foot of the beautiful Maroon Bells. This is a 22-mile, scenic, out-and-back ride on paved trail and quiet road. An e-bike is highly recommended as the climb to Maroon Lake is 2,000 feet. We’ll finish around 1 PM. There is a $6.20 fee to ride the road to Maroon Lake on an e-bike. However, the fee is waived for two bikes upon presentation of a National Park Pass.

On the way home, we recommend taking Independence Pass, which should be spectacular with fall colors and amazing views.
Don’t forget to bring your bike charger as you’ll need 100% battery before these rides!

The study is 7 weeks long, encompassing weekly class sessions using a study book with daily lessons and a weekly video teaching that will be viewed in class.
  • Thursdays, September 10—October 22, 2026
  • OR Fridays, September 11—October 23, 2026

Face Yoga is a natural way of looking and feeling younger and healthier. With an added sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

Summer Resident Vendor Market – Join the Fun!   Get ready for a fun-filled community event right here at home! We're thrilled to invite all residents to take part in our Resident-Only Vendor Market – a relaxed, local pop-up market where neighbors become vendors, and shoppers find unique treasures just steps from their door. Whether you craft, create, bake, build, or grow it – this is your chance to share your talent with the community and maybe make a little extra cash!   What’s the Market All About? This is a casual, community-driven market where residents can set up their own tables and sell handmade goods, crafts, baked treats, garden-fresh produce, art, and more. Think farmers market meets neighborhood block party – low-key, fun, and all about supporting each other!
  • Where: We’ll be blocking off part of the parking lot to turn it into our very own market space.
  • Dates:
    • July 11
    • August 22
    • September 19
  • Market Hours: 9:00 am– 12:00 pm

  • Vendor Setup: Begins at 7:00 am– please be ready to sell by 9:00 am
  • Cost: FREE!
  • Please register below. Registration will close 1 week before each market date. You need to register for each date separately.
  • Lifestyle will outline a map of where registered vendors will set up by Wednesday of market week so you'll know where to set up.
  • Vendor location will be determined by random name selector. You may request to set up next to another vendor, but not where you will be placed.
  • What you'll need to bring: Your own table, chair(s), and shade (like a pop-up tent or umbrella)

Face Yoga is a natural way of looking and feeling younger and healthier. With an added sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

Cost is $10 per class
