“NO OTHER GODS: The Unrivaled Pursuit of Christ” by Kelly Minter
We often think of idols as ancient graven images or golden calves, but God’s people still battle idolatry every day.  Our idols look more familiar—money, fame, power, work, ministry, and people.  As you identify your modern-day idols and dethrone them, you’ll discover that Jesus can do what no other god can.

o   The study is 8 weeks long and includes a weekly video and class sessions using a study book with daily lessons.
o   Thursdays, September 12—October 31, 2024
o   OR Fridays, September 13—November 1, 2024
o   9:30 AM until 11:30 AM
o   HTC Clubhouse
When you purchase your book, please make sure you are getting Kelly’s updated version!  (In our last study, the updated version was quite different!)  Here is the Amazon link to the 2023 version which also includes free video access:

Active Minds

Today's Topic: Mississippi River!

The mighty Mississippi River is the third largest watershed in the world, starting at Lake Itasca in Northern Minnesota and winding some 2,340 miles before emptying into the Gulf of Mexico not far from New Orleans. Historically home to over a dozen Native American tribes who lived near its banks, the Mississippi river has been both a vital transportation artery and a fertile agricultural region throughout the entire history of North America, up to and including the United States.

Free to attend; please RSVP below to reserve your spot!

About Active Minds: Active Minds started in 2002 as a series of poetry classes in a church basement in Denver. Before long, it grew to include other courses focusing on contemporary global issues, historical themes, and other matters of importance. The original audience was primarily senior citizens, but over time Active Minds has grown to serve adults of all ages through programming at book stores, libraries, and corporations. Today Active Minds provides programming to over 200 organizations and has over 30 highly qualified instructors on staff. John Henderson and Zane Robertson formed Active Minds out of a deeply felt belief that lifelong learning is central to a life well lived. We are inspired by members of our own families who embodied this spirit and dedicate this work to them.

Breathwork and Meditation
Friday, November 15th, 2024, 5pm to 6pm at Aerobics Room
Breathwork and Meditation Breathwork and meditation offer myriad benefits tailored specifically for seniors. Through intentional breathing techniques, seniors can enhance lung capacity, improving overall respiratory function and oxygenation of the body. This promotes vitality and energy levels, essential for maintaining an active lifestyle. Additionally, meditation cultivates mental clarity, reducing stress and anxiety commonly experienced in later years. Seniors can find solace in the present moment, fostering a sense of inner peace and emotional well-being. Furthermore, these practices promote better sleep quality, aiding in the management of age-related sleep disturbances. Ultimately, breathwork and meditation empower seniors to embrace aging gracefully, nurturing their physical, mental, and emotional health.   Bio: Lewis Ortiz Hello, my name is Lewis.
