Mixed media offers a multitude of options and provides an open opportunity for creativity and fun. Come meet Elaine Riley, a long-time mixed media artist and teacher, in this 3 hour workshop to create a mixed media collage art journal. You will learn the various techniques for collage, stencil use, stamping, mark making, found poetry, and more. Products will be demonstrated and discussed and you will leave having new art skills and how to tell your story in collage. No experience is necessary and those of you with mixed media experience will learn some things to add to your creative list.
This journal will be a place to experiment, express, play, tell your stories, use new art products, for soul-searching, and create daily or as often as you want. Writing is done below the layers and more layers of creative goodness. It’s here and you know it is and while the writing is, for some people, key, it’s not necessarily “the star” in this process. You are the creator.
The following is a list of materials that will be used during the workshop. Please bring your own mixed media art journal and basic craft paints so you can continue your work/journal at home. Other paints will also be available to share.
All other materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own personal/preferred art supplies, memorabilia, photos, papers, colors or trimmings you like, charms, magazine pictures, etc. Anything that can be glued to paper. I would suggest that if you are going to use photos, print copy them onto paper as the printer paper will blend into your collage better than photo paper. Inkjet printer is fine – nothing special is needed.
This class is fun way to jump start your creative spirit in the new year with new ideas, skills and friends!
