Active Minds

Free to attend; please RSVP below to reserve your spot!
Today's Topic: European Union
Gradually created in the wake of World War II, the European Union was formed to provide a unified trading bloc for Western Europe. As the EU has grown, it has faced obstacles, such as the addition of Central and Eastern European countries and BREXIT, the first and only withdrawal of a nation from the Union. Join Active Minds as we explore the historical roots of the formation of the EU as well as the issues that challenge its future.
About Active Minds: Active Minds started in 2002 as a series of poetry classes in a church basement in Denver. Before long, it grew to include other courses focusing on contemporary global issues, historical themes, and other matters of importance. The original audience was primarily senior citizens, but over time Active Minds has grown to serve adults of all ages through programming at book stores, libraries, and corporations. Today Active Minds provides programming to over 200 organizations and has over 30 highly qualified instructors on staff. John Henderson and Zane Robertson formed Active Minds out of a deeply felt belief that lifelong learning is central to a life well lived. We are inspired by members of our own families who embodied this spirit and dedicate this work to them.

Breathwork and Meditation
Monday, February 10th, 2025, 6pm to 7pm at Aerobics

Breathwork and meditation offer myriad benefits tailored specifically for seniors. Through intentional breathing techniques, seniors can enhance lung capacity, improving overall respiratory function and oxygenation of the body. This promotes vitality and energy levels, essential for maintaining an active lifestyle. Additionally, meditation cultivates mental clarity, reducing stress and anxiety commonly experienced in later years. Seniors can find solace in the present moment, fostering a sense of inner peace and emotional well-being. Furthermore, these practices promote better sleep quality, aiding in the management of age-related sleep disturbances. Ultimately, breathwork and meditation empower seniors to embrace aging gracefully, nurturing their physical, mental, and emotional health.

Cocktails and Classics
Join us for an enchanting evening in the Clubhouse Lobby as we present Cocktails and Classics, a celebration of timeless music and sophisticated charm.
UPDATED PERFORMANCE:
Join us for an unforgettable live music experience in the lobby with the talented Jay Casmirri! With his sparkling vocals, skillful acoustic guitar, and piano playing, Jay delivers a dynamic performance featuring hits from the '70s to today.
Unlike typical karaoke-style performances, Jay keeps it authentic—no backing tracks—just pure, live music. For songs that need an extra boost, he adds programmed drums to keep the energy high and the crowd engaged.
Currently performing at venues across Denver, Jay brings a setlist packed with crowd favorites from legendary artists like The Eagles, Billy Joel, Elton John, Poco, Steve Miller, and Alex Clare. Whether you’re a longtime fan of classic hits or just looking for a great time, Jay’s music is sure to entertain.
Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy a lively and engaging performance in the heart of our lobby!
